The full body of J. Michael Straczynski's work defies easy classification...

Author of over 500 published articles and short stories, roughly 200 produced episodes of television (including acting as executive producer and creator of two series of his own creation: Babylon 5, which ran successfully for five years in syndication then on the TNT Network, and a follow-up series, Crusade, which ran on the TNT Network in 1999), and seven produced TV movies, two novels, multiple short stories published in magazines and collections in addition to a published anthology of his short fiction, his own comics imprint, a dozen produced plays, another dozen produced radio dramas with a new radio drama series of his own creation, two Hugo awards and award nominations in every category.

One of the 100 most important people in science fiction, according to Cinefantastique's annual assessments of him; "the Tolstoy of Science Fiction" according to Science Fiction Age; he was selected by Newsweek as one of their "Fifty For the Future," described as "innovators who will shape our lives as we move into the 21st Century"; on New Year's Day 2000, CBS News ran an extensive feature on him as a futurist; and Buzz Magazine named him one of the 100 coolest people in Los Angeles. Not to mention he also has the unique distinction of having an asteroid officially named after him by the International Astronomer's Union, and was awarded the Space Frontier Foundation's Vision of the Future Award.

With specific regards to his novel works: his first two novels, Demon Night and OtherSyde were published in hardcover by E. P. Dutton, and his anthology, Tales From the New Twilight Zone, was published by Bantam. He has also sold many short stories to such publications as Pulphouse, Amazing Stories, Shadows 6, Midnight Graffiti and others. His fiction work has been nominated for a Bram Stoker Award from the Horror Writers of America.
